SALARY: $8.30 - $11.64 Hourly GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This employment opportunity is for a Seasonal Laborer position in the Fleet Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. This part-time position's job duties support fleet operations with tasks that include, but are not limited to: Janitorial duties at the Hamilton Municipal Garage Parts pick up and delivery Vehicle pick up and delivery Mail pick up and delivery Parts storeroom cleaning and restocking Grounds maintenance Other general labor tsk that supports fleet operations General: This is seasonal or temporary work performing basic manual work. Persons in this class may perform custodial or manual clean up type tasks on city properties or buildings. They may be used as part of a work crew doing clean up or building repair. Employees in this class are responsible for performing manual work with some strength and minimal skills. They may use standard hand tools including brooms or shovels or painting equipment. Employees must be alert to general hazards and show the ability to work safely.  Work is normally performed under the supervision of a permanent employee who directs the work and provides instructions as needed. Work is inspected on a frequent basis.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists in cleaning, painting or mowing tasks.  Assists in making repairs to buildings, to cleaning up a facility or to move property from one location to another.  May paint or clean buildings or rooms.  Performs various simple grounds and facilities maintenance tasks at city-owned buildings or utility plants. Operates very basic hand tools or garden tools and equipment.  Performs related work as required. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGES/ABILITIES: Ability to follow simple instructions and to exercise normal caution. Ability to perform semi-skilled tasks without close supervision. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods and under unfavorable weather conditions. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Ability to get along well with fellow employees and the public. Experience as a laborer or trades helper or in a field of general construction is useful although not required TRAINING/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: Must be Sixteen (16) years of age.
