TITLE: Computer Specialist. HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. *Hours may vary to meet operational needs. CLASSIFICATION: MIS Specialist 1. Pay Range: $20-$24/hr DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES. Monitors and maintains Agency computers and network (i.e. installation/loading, evaluation and maintenance of commercial software and hardware components; data backup and retrieval; assists in development and monitoring of security functions; troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems; monitors and updates history of agency computer, phone, copier and printer hardware and software (i.e. equipment purchases, repair configuration and modification; user and group information; directory structure). Maintains OhioMeansJobs computer network. Creates, reviews, modifies and maintains Agency databases, spreadsheets, etc¿ Provides assistance to PC users concerning software application and hardware use. Develops computer training modules for Agency staff. Conducts training regarding all aspects of Agency computer system. Develops written manual of instruction for computer operations. Assists in planning for future Agency computer needs. Assists in developing specifications for computer needs. Assists in developing specifications for computer equipment purchases. Evaluates proposal from Vendors and makes recommendations to supervisor and administration. Attends seminars, conferences, and training to update computer skills. Other duties as assigned. Completion of an associate¿s degree in computer science or programming; or completion of a bachelor¿s degree in a related field strongly preferred.
